Regent Of Aceh Besar: New Year's Celebration Contrary To Islamic Sharia, Customs And Ethics

BANDA ACEH - Aceh Besar Regent Mawardi Ali prohibits the celebration of New Year's Eve 2021. New year's celebration is considered not the culture of the Acehnese people.

"New year celebrations are not the culture of the Acehnese people, therefore we ask that on the eve of the new year 2021 not hold activities that are against Islamic law, customs and ethics," said Mawardi Ali as quoted by Antara, Monday, December 28.

Forkopimda Aceh Besar issued a joint appeal containing a ban on celebrating the new year 2021 by not holding fireworks, burning firecrackers, blowing trumpets. Illegal racing, convoys of vehicles and useless games are also prohibited.

In addition, Forkopimda also appealed to the public and traders not to trade in firecrackers, fireworks, trumpets and the like.

Mawardi Ali emphasized that the Aceh Besar Forkopimda also asked the community to strengthen unity and increase awareness and protect themselves and their families from activities that violate Islamic law.

"Let us all be able to comply with it as a form of concern in supporting the implementation of Islamic law in Aceh Besar," he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations and Protocol of the Aceh Besar Regional Secretariat, Muhajir, said that the joint call had also been reproduced and would be posted in crowded locations such as markets to coffee shops (warkop).

"All this so that the people of Aceh Besar will know about the call with Forkopimda regarding the ban on the New Year's Eve celebration," said Muhajir.
