The Choice In The 2024 General Election May Not Be The Same, Vice President: We Hope To Be Unbroken The Integrity Of The Nation

JAKARTA - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin hopes that the debate or difference in choice in the 2024 election will not damage the integrity of the nation.

"We hope (the debate) of the election does not damage the integrity of this nation, does not build divisions, debates," asked the Vice President in his remarks during the inauguration of the Ijtima Ulama Nusantara Opening which was initiated by the Syura Council of the National Awakening Party (PKB), in Jakarta, Friday, January 13, as reported by Antara.

The vice president said debates over differences in political choices may be done as long as they are in a good way to discuss what is best for the country without causing hostility.

"In the best way possible, if there was hostility, hostility would be gone," he said.

At the event entitled Ulama Bangkit Bersatu Menjaga Indonesia, the Vice President reiterated the importance of the role of ulama in protecting the people and state.

"By protecting the country, we maintain religion, maintain our souls, maintain reason, protect offspring, and protect wealth. That was what the ulama used to aim at the students to protect and defend the country," he explained.

The efforts of the ulama to protect the country, according to the Vice President, can be carried out jointly formulating solutions to the nation's problems, including politics in order to build the nation.
