Harun Masiku's Pursuit, KPK: Can't Be Like Search Address

The pursuit of five fugitives from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), including former legislative candidate Harun Masiku, continues to be intensified. The search took time.

"This is something dynamic, not static as looking for an address, for example because it's a static address, it's clear. But if it's dynamic, people like this keep moving," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters, Friday, January 13.

Ali said various efforts in accordance with the laws and regulations were made. Moreover, they intend to find the fugitives so that they can be tried.

However, Ali did not specify how the search process would be. "There must be a strategy that we have," he said.

The KPK previously stated that there are five fugitives who are still being sought. Apart from Harun Masiku, they are Izil Azhar who has been on the run since 2018; Kirana Kotama who has been on the run since 2017; Paulus Tanos who is a suspect in the alleged corruption in the procurement of e-KTP; and Central Mamberamo Regent Ricky Ham Pagawak who is a suspect in bribery and gratification.

The KPK has confirmed that the search for their fugitives is still ongoing. They are trying to make the suspects suspected of corruption accountable for their actions.

"Still in the search for five people (suspects of alleged corruption, ed)," Alexander said in his presentation at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta (Jaksel), Tuesday, December 27.

Regarding this search, the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD said the search for fugitives by the KPK was certainly not an easy thing. Especially if they run abroad.

There are rules that must be obeyed before arresting someone who runs abroad. Even so, the KPK is believed to have known the whereabouts of a number of fugitives, including Harun Masiku.

"We are processing slowly. Regarding Mamberamo and Harun Masiku, for example, where have they been detected, we already know the name has been changed," Mahfud told reporters at his office, Wednesday, January 11.

In addition, the government is also trying to open communication with countries that are suspected of being places of escape for fugitives from the KPK. "But it's not as easy as turning your hands, so be careful but we will continue to handle them," said Mahfud.
