JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confirmed that it will continue to search for its fugitives. They are trying to find the perpetrators of alleged corruption who escaped and could immediately be held accountable for their actions.

"We continue to search because of the KPK's obligation," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters, Friday, January 13.

Ali said there were five fugitives on the wanted list (DPO).

The five are former legislative candidate Harun Masiku who is a briber of former KPU commissioner Wahyu Setiawan; Azhar who has been on the run since 2018; Kirana Kotama who has been on the run since 2017.

Then, a fugitive named Paulus Tanos who is a suspect in the alleged corruption in the procurement of e-KTP; and the Regent of Central Mamberamo Ricky Ham Pagawak who is a suspect in bribery and gratification.

Ali said that all of them would be searched for because the KPK would not focus on just one name. "We are looking for all of them. Not only Harun Masiku," he added.

Previously, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam) Mahfud MD said the search for fugitives by the KPK was certainly not an easy thing. Especially if they run abroad.

There are rules that must be obeyed before arresting someone who runs abroad. Even so, the KPK is believed to have known the whereabouts of a number of fugitives, including Harun Masiku.

"We are processing slowly. Regarding Mamberamo and Harun Masiku, for example, where have they been detected, we already know the name has been changed," Mahfud told reporters at his office, Wednesday, January 11.

In addition, the government is also trying to open communication with countries that are suspected of being places of escape for fugitives from the KPK. "But it's not as easy as turning your hands, so be careful but we will continue to handle them," said Mahfud.
