KPU Admits That It Has Not Received A Copy Of The Material On The Lawsuit On The Results Of The Elections At The Constitutional Court

JAKARTA - General Election Commission (KPU) commissioner Hasyim Asyari admits that he has not yet received a basic copy of the case for dispute over the results of the regional election which was sued at the Constitutional Court (MK).

Thus, Hasyim, as head of the legal and supervisory division at the KPU, admitted that he had not been able to prepare materials in dealing with hundreds of subjects on the dispute over the election dispute.

"The KPU does not yet know the subject matter of the lawsuit or the request for dispute resolution on the results of the regional head elections because they have not received a copy of the complaint material," said Hashim in his statement, Monday, December 28.

Hasyim said, the KPU had sent a letter to the Constitutional Court to ask for confirmation of the cases registered by the Court. Because, according to him, this confirmation is important to know.

First, for cases that are not registered by the Constitutional Court, it means that the case does not proceed to case examination in the trial of election results dispute at the Constitutional Court.

"For provincial, regency, or city KPUs where there are no cases registered in the Constitutional Court, it means that they can proceed to the next election stage, namely the determination of the elected candidate pair," said Hasyim.

Second, for cases registered in the Constitutional Court, it means that the determination of the vote results in a region cannot be done because it will continue to the trial of the election results dispute.

"Provincial, regency, or city KPU where there are cases registered by the Constitutional Court must prepare themselves to face trial disputes over the election results at the Constitutional Court," said Hasyim.

For information, as of December 28 at 08.30 WIB, 135 applications for the 2020 Pilkada dispute had been submitted to the Constitutional Court.

The application covers 7 cases for the election of governor and deputy governor, 14 cases for the election of mayor and deputy mayor, and 114 cases for the election of the regent and deputy regent.
