Waste Management Is Not An Easy Work, Minister Siti: Needs Collaboration Many Parties And Now More Massive

JAKARTA - Minister of Environment and Forestry Siti Nurbaya continued to work in-cognito on the field to solve the waste problem in Indonesia. This time he visited the Integrated Waste Management Site (TPST) Witani Badung Regency and TPST TOSS (Sepat where), Klungkung Regency, Bali.

From this working visit, Minister Siti saw that the waste processing process in Bali Province had advanced quite a bit.

"The role of the Regency Government is quite prominent, supported by the Central Government, the Waste Entrepreneurs Association and also limited private support," said Siti in a statement received, Wednesday, January 11.

At the TPST, the incoming waste is recorded at 17 tons per day with a composition of 64% organic. The processed waste products at the TPST include composting for daily needs for fertilizers and plants, RDF brand materials in collaboration with PT. Bali Java Generation (PJB), as coal co-firing.

"There are still residuals to the TPA about 10%, this part that must be inventoried in the conception of complete waste settlement," added Minister Siti.

In this incognito work, on the previous day he also visited the Sentul City Recycle Center Creation Fort Waste Bank, Bogor, which was named the Best Waste Bank in 2021.

Seeing the progress of waste management in Indonesia Minister Siti said strategic resolution of waste problems requires a combination of the work of the Regional Government/Regional Head, non-governmental organizations, the business world, BUMD/private sector, and it has begun to look even more massive since 2016.

"This continues to develop and various creative innovations, especially from among the younger generation who are also starting to be active," he said.

Minister Siti is determined to continue to strengthen multistakeholder collaboration according to their respective roles and responsibilities, to solve waste problems from upstream to downstream. The Ministry of Environment and Forestry will continue to carry out retail for zero emissions, in addition to zero waste in 2030.

"Of course the various dynamics on the ground are still challenging, and we will work hard to perfect everything. Optimistic", he said.
