JAKARTA - Ferdinandus Lango Bili's family, the shooting victim who died, asked a police officer named Brigadier ER who carried out the shooting to be given a light sentence. "We express our apologies and gratitude to the West Sumba Police, relatives, friends who have empathized with the victims. However, we ask that the perpetrators who shot be given light punishment," said Daniel Billi, the representative of the victim's family, in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, Antara, Wednesday, January 11. According to Daniel, at first the family did not accept that their son Ferdinandus died after being accidentally shot from a gun belonging to Brigadier ER on Saturday, January 7, 2023. However, after hearing the story or the chronology of the actual incident, the victim's family also asked that the legal case be given leniency because the victim and the shooter were basically brothers and always together since childhood. "After we found out who the perpetrators were, we realized that they were both able to be said to be one leg, slept together, went out together, ate together. In fact, we heard that this incident was also unintentional," added Daniel. Both the victim's family and the perpetrator's family saw the incident as a disaster, so they asked for leniency for Brigadier ER. According to them, the incident that occurred in the jurisdiction of the West Sumba Police will definitely reduce the performance value of the institution. Therefore, the family does not want the shooting case to have an impact on the performance of the West Sumba Police because so far the police chief and his staff have been working optimally to maintain security and order in West Sumba. The Head of Public Relations of the NTT Police, Kombes Ariasandy, said that currently the legal process against Brigadier ER is still ongoing. "This case is not a complaint offense, while the process is still ongoing," he said.
