Menparekraf Sandiaga Uno To Bali, Reviewing Tourism Destination Health Protocols

DENPASAR - The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno paid a working visit to Bali. Sandiaga checks the application of health in Bali tourist destinations.

"This is my first working visit. I am here to ensure that at important times strict and disciplined protocols are applied to the tourism sector and the creative economy as well," Sandiaga told reporters at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali, Sunday, December 27.

Sandiaga will be in Bali for 2 days. Sandiaga wants to ensure that Bali tourism adapts to the conditions of COVID-19.

"We want to see firsthand how a very, very ultra tourist destination for Indonesia, namely Bali, can adapt to the midst of a pandemic," he said.

According to him, the health aspect is the main thing when Bali opens the arrival of foreign tourists.

"The safety aspect of all stakeholders is the main thing to do. We must ensure that the interests of the nation and state are our priority," he continued.

The working visit to the Island of the Gods was carried out to ensure the implementation of CHSE-based health protocols or Cleanliness, Health, Safety and Environmental Sustainability in the tourism sector.

In addition to reviewing destination readiness, the Menparekraf is also scheduled to meet with local government officials in Bali to discuss and hear input and obstacles that have been faced so that the best tourism strategy can be formulated in the future.

According to Sandiaga Uno, coordination and collaboration must be ensured to run well, especially in meeting the health aspects to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Regarding the plan to reopen the border in Bali, he will also discuss it further with the Governor of Bali, Wayan Koster and the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan and other related parties.

"I have scheduled to meet and coordinate with the Governor of Bali and also Pak Luhut. In the next few days, we will discuss this (border opening plan)," he said.

Sandiaga also asked tourism and creative economy stakeholders to be patient because the plan to open borders requires careful study and preparation.

"In the next few days we will discuss this. Please all be patient, this is definitely our priority," Menparekraf Sandiaga Uno.
