Speedboat With A TNI Passenger Accident In Yapen Papua: 8 Selamat, 2 Dies, 4 Loss

PAPUA - A speedboat or speedboat with 14 passengers had an accident in the waters of Yapen Islands Regency, Papua Province. From the accident, two were declared dead.

Yapen Islands Police Chief AKBP Herzoni Saragih said of the total dozens of passengers, seven of them were members of the TNI-AD who served in the Barapasi Koramil, Kodim 1709-05/Yawa.

The speedboat bound for Serui-Barapasi, Papua, had an accident on Saturday night January 7th. AKBP Herzoni said the exact incident occurred around the waters of Kaipuri, Kurudu Island, Yapen.

The two victims who died were Serda Arafat Wawini and Elan Melati Senggoku. Both members of the Barapasi Koramil, Kodim 1709-05/Yawa. Shortly after they were found, the two victims were evacuated to the East Yapen Health Center. Then the two bodies were transferred to the Serui Hospital.

Until now, the joint SAR team has not found another victim in the accident. Herzoni said the search for the victims would be continued Monday, January 9. From the accident, Herzoni said there were eight survivors, namely Serda Yunus Dimara, Serda Ardo, Serda Ehud, Isak Dasinapa, Mulyadi, Angge Singgoku, Bastian Mairebo, Raja Singgoku, and Apner Singgoku.

Meanwhile, the victims who have not been found include Danramil Barapasi Serma Wiyoto, Serda James Natalian Asmarum and Serda Saworu.
