436 Kiosks And 15 Ruko Hangus Were Burned, The Police Intervened In The Origin Of The Fire At The Pharaa Sentani Market

JAKARTA - Jayapura Police will immediately open an investigation into the fire case of 436 kiosks and 15 shophouses at Pharaa Sentani Market, Jayapura Regency, Papua, Friday, January 6.

Jayapura Police Chief Fredrickus Maclariomboen, said that after the data collection of fire victims was completed by the Jayapura District Social Service, his party immediately processed the crime scene (TKP).

According to Maclarimboen, the fire at Pharaa Sentani Market occurred at around 16.09 WIT where based on one of the Wahab witnesses, the fire first emerged from a used clothing stall so that residents and traders worked hand in hand to extinguish the fire and save their merchandise.

"However, building materials made of wood and plywood made the fire quickly spread and then spread to stalls and other buildings," he said as quoted by Antara, Saturday, January 7.

He explained that the fire could only be extinguished at around 19.12 WIT after four fire units from Yonif RK 751/VJS, Waterconan Polres Jayapura, BNPB fire engines from Jayapura Regency and fire engines from the Jayapura Regency Government were assisted by water supply cars to extinguish the fire.

"Efforts to extinguish the fire carried out by residents assisted by the TNI-Polri have succeeded in extinguishing the fire and personnel in the field have also evacuated several items that can still be saved," he said.

He added that the fire case that occurred at the Pharaa Sentani Market did not take any lives or temporary injuries for material losses in collecting data on members in the field.

"The cause of the fire at the Jayapura Police Criminal Investigation Unit is still investigating this case. TKP will be processed by the Jayapura Police Criminal Investigation Unit Identification Unit to find out the exact cause of the fire," he said.
