Police arrested a resident selling homemade firearms illegally in Kalidoni, Palembang, South Sumatra.

Kapolsek Kalidoni AKP Dwi A Cesario, said the suspect was Panji Septiady (34), a resident of Jalan KH Azhari, 3-4 Ulu, Seberang Ulu 1, Palembang.

Suspect Panji was arrested by members of the criminal investigation unit while carrying out routine patrols of security and public order, on Thursday (5/1) afternoon at around 12.00 WIB.

He explained that at that time police personnel found a suspect riding a motorcycle on Jalan Merah Mata, Kalidoni, with suspicious behavior.

For this suspicious behavior, the suspect was finally stopped for questioning, which was responded to with a nervous voice until the police finally conducted a search.

"It turns out that something was true. The suspect carried a complete firearm containing two ammunition (bullets) stored on his waist," he said, adding that from there he was immediately arrested to the Kalidoni Sector Police office.

He said that the suspect's investigator admitted that he bought the firearm from someone in the Line 19, Banyuasin Regency, worth Rp. 1.5 million.

Then, the firearms were brought to be resold by the suspect to an order in Palembang worth Rp. 2 million, but failed because they were arrested first.

"Panji is currently being held at the office to undergo the investigation process along with evidence of silver firearms, ammunition and automatic motorbikes. The network is being hunted," he said.

For his actions, the suspect is subject to Article 1 Paragraph (1) of the Emergency Law (UU) number 12 of 1951, with the threat of imprisonment for a maximum of life.
