CIREBON - The Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) of Cirebon City, West Java, asked for information from the Ummat Party officials regarding the flag-raising incident in the At-Taqwa Grand Mosque. "We have received information from the management of the Ummat Party regarding the raising of the party flag in the At Taqwa Mosque," said Cirebon City Bawaslu Chairman Mohamad Joharudin in Cirebon, quoted from Antara, Thursday, January 5. Joharudin said that on Thursday, Hanuari, the management of the Cirebon City Ummat Party, visited Bawaslu, to clarify the raising of party flags in the mosque. According to him, the raising of the flag was not planned in advance, but was a spontaneous action. At that time the management was holding a meeting and prostration in gratitude after the party passed. However, continued Joharudin, after carrying out the gratitude they then took a photo together, and there were two members who carried the flag and then spread it when taking pictures. "From his confession, the raising of the flag was spontaneous after the implementation of the thanksgiving prostration," he said. Joharudin said that his party did get a report from one of the residents regarding the actions of the Ummat Party officials who raised the flag inside the mosque. But when it will be followed up, the Ummat Party officials come to Bawaslu to clarify. He added that the actions of the Ummat Party officials could not be justified, because any place of worship, be it mosques, churches, temples or others, could not be entered by politics. However, their actions, said Joharudin, could not be dealt with, because at this time they had not entered the campaign stage, but that was not carried out, because it was a place of worship. "We have not been able to impose sanctions, because it is not yet a campaign period, but ethics must be applied, especially since it is a place of worship and it has also been enacted by a political party," he said.
