President Jokowi: There Are Many Things To Be Happy About In 2022, But Not A Little Pula That Is Less Fun

JAKARTA - Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is looking at the new year 2023 with the determination to bring Indonesia forward, said a message in a thread that was tweeted via his official Twitter account, @jokowi, on Saturday, December 31.

The President opened his thread by saying that many things came and went on and on throughout 2022 which gave many lessons.

"What should we remember from 2022 which we immediately left behind? Many. Some are encouraging, not a few are less fun. Everyone comes and goes on and on, gives lessons, strengthens and unites more," the President tweeted, quoted by Antara.

The President reminded that Indonesia had successfully passed a pandemic and the threat of recession through a positive growth in the economy.

Jokowi's statement certainly refers to the achievement of economic recovery which shows positive records, including national economic growth in the third quarter of 2022 which was recorded at 5.72 percent year on year (yoy).

Strengthening the national economic recovery can also be seen with 1.8 percent growth in the third quarter compared to the second quarter of 2022.

Meanwhile, regarding the pandemic period, President Jokowi has officially lifted the policy of implementing restrictions on community activities (PPKM) on Friday, December 30, although he also emphasized that the COVID-19 pandemic has not yet ended completely.

In his presentation, the President also conveyed that Indonesia's achievement in carrying out the G20 presidency which was closed with the G20 Summit in Bali in mid-November.

He also considered that Indonesia's political and security situation was conducive, accompanied by development that went according to plan.

However, the President did not ignore the fact that throughout the year several regions in Indonesia were hit by various natural disasters ranging from floods to earthquakes.

Closing his thread, the President invited the entire community to look to 2023 with the determination to bring Indonesia forward.

"With all that provision, we leave 2022 and look at 2023 with the determination to bring Indonesia forward," said President Jokowi's closing tweet.
