Due To Extremal Weather, The 2023 New Year's Eve Celebration In Makassar Is Fired

JAKARTA - The Makassar City Government, South Sulawesi, canceled crowd celebration activities to welcome New Year's Eve 2022 to 2023 along the Losari Beach road due to the impact of disaster and bad weather.

"At a time like this I changed the concept of New Year's Eve 2023. At first I prepared a celebration in Losari, but we changed it, we held dhikr together in our homes, in their respective mosques," said Makassar Mayor Moh Ramdhan Pomanto, quoted from Antara, Saturday 31 December.

He emphasized that the New Year's Eve celebration was canceled because various considerations such as extreme weather were still threatening and many disasters occurred in several areas of Makassar City and its surroundings.

"I immediately joined the dhikir and prayer together in the Baruga Anging Mammiri hall Rujab. And we will leave New Year's Eve 2023 because so many of our brothers were hit by a disaster," said the man who is familiarly called Danny Pomanto.

According to him, the number of disasters that have occurred in the last few days that have befallen City residents, ranging from floods, strong winds, ROB floods, to Central Market fires, is an excuse not to celebrate New Year's euphoria like the previous year.

For this reason, Danny invites all people to welcome New Year's Eve 2023 to hold a dhikr and prayer together, both in mosques and their respective homes. Because, through this joint dzik and prayer, it is hoped that Makassar City will be kept away from various disasters.

Head of the People's Welfare Section Muhammad Syarief conveyed that for the Makassar City Government's agenda in welcoming New Year's Eve, prayers and remembrance were held together in the Baruga Angin Mamiri hall of the Mayor's Office, Jalan Penghibur, Losari Beach tonight.

This activity will be guided by KH Amirullah Amri, to pray and dhikr together to welcome New Year's Eve 2023 will be attended by the Makassar City Forkopimda ranks, religious leaders, and all OPDs within the Makassar City Government.
