Ahead Of New Year's Eve, The Jember Police Carried Out The Blocking Of City Areas

JAKARTA - Jember Resort Police officers are blocking the city area to the square to anticipate traffic congestion ahead of New Year's Eve in Jember Regency, East Java.

The government has officially lifted the implementation of restrictions on community activities (PPKM) on Friday, December 30, so it is estimated that the community will flock to come to the square to celebrate New Year's Eve 2023.

"We are blocking the city area. Among other things, the blocking will close the road leading to the Jember City square ahead of New Year's Eve," said Jember Police Chief AKBP Hery Purnomo in Jember, Saturday.

He said as many as 1,200 Jember Police personnel assisted by members of the 0824 Kodim, the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) and the Transportation Service carried out security on New Year's Eve in Jember Regency.

"We urge the public not to flock to the square to celebrate New Year's Eve, so that people can celebrate New Year's Eve in their respective homes," he said as quoted by ANTARA.

According to him, officers will conduct raids to anticipate New Year's Eve celebrations with negative activities such as drinking alcohol and drug parties, as well as convoys using Brong exhausts that can disrupt public order.

"Officers will take firm action against people who violate public order, so we urge them not to do negative things as an euphoria for celebrating the new year," he said.

Meanwhile, the Jember Transportation Service is also preparing traffic engineering in the city area, especially around the square on New Year's Eve to anticipate traffic congestion and crowds of people celebrating New Year's Eve.

The access road to the Jember City square will also be closed to anticipate congestion and community congestion from various sub-districts to the city center.
