Minister Trenggono's Breakthrough: Ensuring Marine Ecosystems Are Not Damaged

JAKARTA - Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono said that within the next one or two months he will evaluate all programs and policies in the ministry he leads. He even said that he would sort out which policies were continued and which were not.

"I think it will not take long, maybe in the next one or two months I will study the problem to evaluate everything that has been done, which one is good for us to continue, and which one is not good for us to stop," Trenggono said in a press conference after the inauguration which was broadcast on account YouTube Presidential Secretariat, Wednesday, 23 December.

Furthermore, the former Deputy Minister of Defense will also make a number of breakthroughs. However, he ensured that what would be done in the future would still pay attention to the marine ecosystem.

"What breakthroughs will I make? Of course as an institution or ministry that protects the sea, it ensures the sustainability of the marine ecosystem that can run and is not damaged," he said.

Trenggono was appointed minister by President Joko Widodo to replace Edhy Prabowo who was a suspect at the KPK. Edhy was named a suspect for accepting bribes related to the export license for fry.

Meanwhile, Trenggono is the former treasurer of the Jokowi-Ma'ruf Amin National Campaign Team in the 2019 Presidential Election. Previously he was the Deputy Minister of Defense (Wamenhan) accompanying Prabowo Subianto.

Trenggono is the largest telecommunication tower infrastructure provider in Indonesia with ownership of 14,000 towers.
