Can Budi Gunadi Sadikin Play A Heavy Role In Handling The COVID-19 Terawan Has Been Underway?

JAKARTA - Budi Gunadi Sadikin was appointed as Minister of Health (Menkes) replacing Dr. Terawan Agus Putranto by President Joko Widodo. Budi Gunadi will be sworn in by Jokowi on Wednesday, December 22 along with six other people.

Budi Gunadi Sadikin started his career in banking. Graduates from the Bandung Institute of Technology became Chief GM HR PT Bank Bali Tbk (1994–1999), and Senior VP Consumer and Commercial Banking ABN Amro Bank Indonesia & Malaysia (1999–2004).

He also served as Executive VP of Consumer Banking at PT Bank Danamon Tbk (2004–2006), Director of Micro and Retail Banking at PT Bank Mandiri Tbk (2006–2013), President Director of PT Bank Mandiri Tbk (2013–2016), Special Staff of the Minister of BUMN (2016–2017).

Then, Budi Gunadi Sadikin was the President Director of PT Inalum. In 2019, Budi Gunadi was appointed deputy minister of BUMN by President Joko Widodo. And today, he was appointed by President Joko Widodo to become Minister of Health.

"Mr. Budi Gunadi Sadikin, he was the President Director of Bank Mandiri, then the President Director of PT Asahan Inalumunium and the Deputy Minister for BUMN, and now we give the responsibility to lead the Ministry of Health," said President Jokowi at the State Palace, Tuesday, December 22.

The appointment of Budi Gunadi Sadikin as Minister of Health is certainly a heavy responsibility. Because, currently the world, including Indonesia, is facing the COVID-19 pandemic.

As well as Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Jokowi also appointed five other ministers, they are:

1. Tri Rismaharini as Minister of Social Affairs

2. Sandiaga Uno as Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy

3. Yaqut Cholil Choumas (Gus Yaqut) as Minister of Religion

4. Sakti Wahyu Trenggono has become Minister of Marine Affairs and Fisheries

5. M Lutfi becomes Minister of Trade
