JAKARTA - Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono said the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) felt lost over the death of Betawi figure Ridwan Saidi. Heru said he had other memories of the deceased's life.

"Pak Ridwan Saidi, he is a Betawi figure, a historical figure, and he knows a lot about Betawi's history, regarding the history of DKI. We feel lost for his death," Heru told reporters at the funeral home of Ridwan Saidi, Jalan Merak II, Bintaro, South Jakarta, Sunday, December 25.

"We followed his thoughts, the best memories. Hopefully, we can continue his thoughts to be able to practice, preserve Betawi culture," he said.

Previously, Betawi cultural observer Ridwan Saidi passed away on Sunday, December 25. The sad news was revealed by the Deputy Chairperson of the Gerindra Party, Fadli Zon, via his Twitter account.

"Goodbye Bg Ridwan Saidi...," wrote Fadli Zon.

"Innalillahi wainnailaihi raajiun. The news from his sons and daughters Bang Ridwan Saidi passed away this morning at 08.35 WIB at RSPI Bintaro. God willing, Husnul Khotimah. Bang RS seorg is an extraordinary discussion friend, insight and experience is broad. al Fatihah," he continued.
