SIGI - Sigi Regency Government, Central Sulawesi, expects the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) to help accelerate the completion of the impact of the earthquake and liquefaction that hit the area in 2018.

"We really hope for support from the Ministry of Home Affairs to accelerate the completion of the impact of earthquakes and liquefactions, in the rehabilitation and reconstruction scheme," said Sigi Regent Mohamad Irwan, contacted from Sigi, Saturday.

Mohamad Irwan met with the Director General of Regional Development at the Ministry of Home Affairs Teguh Setyabudi, in Jakarta, Friday. During the meeting, Mohamad Irwan was accompanied by the Regional Secretary of Sigiirem Hayat Regency and the Head of the Public Works Service.

During the meeting, he admitted to conveying to the Ministry of Home Affairs officials that the impact of the 2018 earthquake and liquefaction in Sigi Regency had not been fully handled in the rehabilitation and reconstruction scheme.

Facilities and infrastructure such as offices, for example, until now, he said, most regional apparatus organizations still have offices in rented buildings.

Including the Sigi Regent's Office in Ria, Sigi Kota District, which was severely affected by the 2018 earthquake and liquefaction. Currently, the Regent and Deputy Regent and officials of the Sigi Regency Government Secretariat are using the Dolo Sub-district Office for services to the community.

Likewise, road infrastructure, bridges and clean water, and irrigation, which have not yet fully recovered.

"So we hope that the Ministry of Home Affairs will coordinate with the Ministry of PUPR to accelerate the recovery of the impact of earthquakes and liquefaction," he said.

Currently, he said, the government has built 2,134 permanent housing (huntap) for Sigi earthquake and liquefaction survivors and has been completed and has been occupied by residents.

"The need for permanent housing for Sigi Regency is 2,600 units, 2,134 units have been built," he said.

Thus, there are still residents affected by the earthquake and liquefaction who have not received permanent housing, and are still living in temporary housing.

"In our meeting, the Ministry of Home Affairs was willing to help and provide positive responses to accelerate the recovery of the impact of the earthquake and Sigi's liquefaction," he said.
