Keep An Eye On The TNI-Polri Sweeping Ormas During The 2022 Christmas Celebration, Minister Of Home Affairs: State Present To Protect

JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Muhammad Tito Karnavian ordered the TNI-Polri apparatus to detect potential sweeping carried out by certain community organizations (ormas) ahead of the 2022 Christmas celebrations. We want to show that there must be protection for our citizens who want to carry out worship in peace, security, and comfort. Tito conveyed the potential threat of sweeping mass organizations while chairing the Coordination Meeting for the Establishment of Religious Harmony Ahead of the 2022 Christmas Celebration and the 2023 New Year in the Main Session Room of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Friday, December 23.

Based on Circular (SE) Number 400.10/8922/SJ concerning Improvement of Preparedness of Regional Governments at Christmas in 2022 and New Year in 2023, Tito requested that the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) hold a coordination meeting including with the Religious Harmony Forum (FKUB).

According to Tito, this coordination is important to increase preparedness in the celebration of Christmas and New Year 2023.

Tito explained that the meeting held by Forkopimda was to discuss various issues that need to be considered ahead of Christmas and New Year celebrations. Starting from religious issues, security, traffic, and so on. The former National Police Chief also asked Forkopimda and FKUB to map out the potential for rejection of religious activities, especially during Christmas celebrations. Tito emphasized the importance of strengthening religious harmony, especially ahead of Christmas and New Year celebrations. "The point is to create safe, comfortable, and orderly conditions. This means proactive steps, mapping and then seeing the potential for rejection of all kinds immediately to carry out a person-to-person approach," said Tito.
