Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, said that the government had carried out health tests on intercity interprovincial bus drivers (AKAP) ahead of the Christmas and New Year holidays.
Syafrin revealed that drivers who did not pass the medical test were prohibited from working driving the AKAP bus. He gave an example, there were two drivers who did not pass the test because they had high blood pressure.
"At Kalideres Terminal, of the 17 tested at that time, there were two who did not meet the health requirements. Therefore, we asked to not leave and be detained by Kasatpol PP Kalideres Terminal," Syafrin told reporters, Thursday, December 22.
Syafrin revealed that the bus operator company was asked to find a driver's replacement driver who did not pass the medical test.
The health condition obtained is based on urine examination. Meanwhile, when checking the health of the bus driver, the DKI Transportation Agency did not find a driver who was positive for drugs or liquor.
"The pleasure until yesterday, there were no (drivers) indicated for drugs or liquor," he said.
On that occasion, Syafrin said, there was an increase in the number of passengers to 23 percent during the Nataru holiday season. Meanwhile, the highest increase in the number of passengers occurred on Tuesday, December 20.
"The highest was two days ago, for an increase of up to 100 percent. For example, at the rambutan village terminal, the average passenger is 800 per day. Yesterday it reached 1,600 passengers," said Syafrin.
"This means that people have started to carry out mobility by intercity transportation. Then with that, school children have started to take holidays," he continued.
