The Kumuh Area In Palembang City Has Decreased To 1,092 Hectares

PALEMBANG - The Public Housing Office for Settlement and Land Areas (Perkimtan) of Palembang City, South Sumatra, said the slum area in this city until December 2022 was reduced to 1,092 hectares (ha) from the previous area of 1,215 ha. "In 2022, slum areas in Palembang City will be reduced because the Kumuh City Program (Kotaku) is running well," said Head of the Palembang City Perkimtan Service, Affan Prapanca, in Palembang, Antara, Wednesday, December 21. He said that currently there are several sub-districts that are still in the heavy slum category, namely Kertapati, Seberang Ulu I, Seberang Ulu II, Kalidoni and Sematang Borang sub-districts. Heavy slum areas such as dense population, drainage channels too much garbage, less representative toilet systems, damaged roads, no lighting, and construction of slum buildings or not being maintained. "We will continue to handle these heavy slum areas in stages," he said. In an effort to handle slum areas, his party together with all regional apparatus organizations (OPD) related to repairing environmental roads, repairing environmental channels, improving residential construction conditions, providing other public facilities, namely street lighting. "Next year we will continue to collaborate with all parties to continue to strive to reduce slum areas and need time gradually due to budget constraints," he said. Then in the area 5 Ilir and 29 Ilir, a handover will be carried out from the facilities and infrastructure of the Ministry of PUPR through the South Sumatra Region Settlement Infrastructure Center (Sumsel) to the Palembang City Government. Meanwhile, for the Lebak Cindo 26 Ilir area, 50 housing units have been repaired through the handling of slum areas and the construction of the Sekanak Lambidaro River.
