Crowded Countries Stop Flights To England Because Of A New Type Of COVID-19

JAKARTA - British Prime Minister (PM) Boris Johnson, who just announced he would relax restrictions over Christmas, suddenly changed course. He hit the brakes suddenly. The discovery of a new variant of the coronavirus that causes COVID-19 led the UK to impose Level 4 restrictions, similar to a keystone. Some countries have even responded by banning flights to and from that country.

Quoting CNN, Monday, December 21, COVID-19 cases in many areas in the UK suddenly jumped again. The situation got worse when it was announced that the discovery of a new variant of COVID-19 in the UK was announced. The easing policy for Christmas is limited to areas less exposed to COVID-19.

Meanwhile, the announcement of the new variant caused a wave of travel bans in various countries. The discovery of a new variant of the coronavirus also prompted the decision to hold an emergency UK government meeting chaired by PM Johnson. The meeting focused on restricting international movement and in particular the steady flow of transport to and out of the UK.

Canada became the latest country to stop flights to and from the UK following the discovery of a new variant of the virus that causes COVID-19, which experts say is spreading faster than others. Canadian PM Justin Trudeau confirmed the news via his Twitter account and said it was done to protect Canadians.

The United States, Argentina, Chile and Colombia have implemented a similar policy. Ecuador is also considering strengthening measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

According to a joint statement published by Argentina's Ministry of Health and Home Affairs, Argentina allowed one more flight from the UK to land at the international airport in Buenos Aires on Monday 21 December, all subsequent flights have all been canceled.

In addition, the Chilean Government announced that all flights to and from the UK will be suspended from Tuesday 22 December. Travelers who have been to the UK in the past 14 days must self-quarantine.

Colombian President Ivan Duque also announced that all flights between Colombia and Britain were suspended. Travelers who have been to the UK in the past 14 days must also self-quarantine when entering Colombia.

European countries such as France, Italy, Ireland, Portugal and the Netherlands have also suspended all flights to and from the UK. Portugal only allows nationals who have arrived from the UK and must have a negative COVID-19 test statement, the Portuguese Interior Minister said.

Saudi Arabia even suspended all international flights and closed land and sea borders for one week. Turkey has also banned flights from Britain, South Africa, the Netherlands and Denmark. Israel prohibits incoming flights from Britain, Denmark and South Africa, and will bar foreign nationals of these countries from entering Israel.
