So The Head Of PPP, Suharso Monoarfa Wants To Bring It Back To A Heyday Like 1999

JAKARTA - Suharso Manoarfa admitted that he wanted to bring the United Development Party (PPP) to a heyday like 1999. Suharso Monoarfa was elected by acclamation as chairman of the PPP DPP in the PPP Congress IX.

"We want to restore the glory of PPP, if in the past, why can't we now, even though at that time (in 1999) everything was limited," he said, attending the closing of the PPP Congress IX at Aston Hotel, Sentul, Bogor, quoted by Antara, Sunday, December 20.

Suharso is targeting the election results in 2024 to exceed the achievements of the 1999 elections. This is because in the 1999 Election, PPP won 11,329,905 votes.

He believes that the target can be achieved if all PPP ranks fight together. According to him, currently in the digitalization era, all cadres can take advantage of easy technology to fly the PPP flag again.

"We are currently focusing on preparing everything. We are improving ourselves internally in the party, welcoming the upcoming elections to regain our former glory," he said.

PPP held Congress IX virtually in 10 cities, namely Makassar, Medan, Padang, Palembang, Banten, Bogor, Semarang, Surabaya, Samarinda and Manado.

Suharso, who was the minister of public housing and a member of the Presidential Advisory Council, was the sole candidate for chairman of the PPP DPP in Congress IX.

Monoarfa, who is now in the cabinet as minister of National Development Planning (PPN) / head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), was elected by acclamation at the VII Plenary Meeting of the IX PPP Congress.

Previously Suharso served as Acting Chairman of the PPP replacing Romahurmuziy, who was once sentenced to prison for the sale of positions at the Ministry of Religion.
