Again, Missing Foreign Citizens When Crossing The Island From Gili Trawangan, GHA Lombok Asked Local Governments To Build Supervisory Towers

NTB - A French citizen was reported missing while trying to swim between islands from Gili Trawangan to Gili Meno in North Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.

The woman named Lydie Annie Mauricette (50) disappeared from Sunday 18 December to Monday 19 December morning and has not been found.

"We have received this information from the Trawangan Supervisory Community Group (Pokmaswas)," said the Acting Head of the Mataram National Search and Rescue Agency, Muhdar, Monday, December 19, as reported by Antara.

He added that the search had been carried out in three gili waters, namely Trawangan, Meno and Air, to the north and south. The joint SAR team combed using a engined rubber boat.

"Entering the second day, the search was carried out through the coast and waters. But until now, the temporary results are still nil," said Muhdar.

The head of the Gili Hotel Association (GHA), Lalu Kusnawan, admitted that he was concerned about the disappearance of foreign tourists who had swam so far.

He said this incident for the umpteenth time happened in Gili Trawangan, Meno, and Air.

Muhdar also asked the local government, especially the North Lombok Regency Tourism Office, to anticipate this so that it does not happen again by building a control tower around the coast.

"Don't just get money from three gigies, but the people are not noticed. Every day there are thousands of people traveling on the beach, please pay attention to their safety," said Lalu confirmed separately.

The joint SAR team involved in this search were elements of the Bangsal SAR Alert Post, Gili Indah Navy Post, Pemens Sector Police, Barasiaga, Pokmaswas, Diver Gili Trawangan, and the local community.
