CIREBON - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Cirebon Regency, West Java, recorded that a person died when a building collapsed due to strong winds on Sunday afternoon. "Yes, it is true (there were casualties due to the collapsed building)," said Cirebon Regency BPBD Chief Executive Alex Suheriyawan in Cirebon, Antara, Sunday, December 18. Alex said the victim died on behalf of Yuda Aripin. The victim is a delivery package courier, a resident of Cirebon Regency, where at the time of the incident the victim was taking shelter in a building shop. But continued Alex, suddenly the building collapsed after being hit by strong winds on Sunday afternoon and hit the victim. "The victim was taking shelter, suddenly the building collapsed in strong winds," he said. Alex added that apart from tearing down the building, there were also several roofs of houses that were damaged, because they were swept away by the wind. In addition, dozens of trees fell, which caused traffic flow to be hampered because they were blocked. He explained that the fallen trees had been handled by members of the Cirebon Regency BPBD and other teams in the field, so that traffic flow returned to normal. Alex stated that BPBD is still collecting data in a number of areas that have experienced strong winds, because until now it has not been handled. For this reason, he appealed to the public to be vigilant when the weather is extreme or strong, to avoid taking shelter under trees and weathered buildings. "We also ask that every group of residents, both at the RT, RW and village levels, can have the tools to cut branches, because when trees fell everywhere, we were quite overwhelmed," he said.
