Polri Called The Cadre Of The JI Terrorist Network Very Neat, 91 People Ready To Fight

JAKARTA - The National Police said that the recruitment of young terrorists by Jamaah Islamiyah (JI) was very neatly organized, with the identification of 91 cadres who were ready to fight.

Head of Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General Argo Yuwono, said that out of the 91 cadres who have been trained by JI, 66 of them have been sent to Syria to join terror groups in the country and some have returned to Indonesia.

"JI has prepared its own capabilities with special training to prepare forces against the enemy, namely the state and the apparatus," said Argo Yuwono as quoted from a written statement, Saturday, December 19.

According to him, JI has a special part of the structure to form congregational cadres, namely now the person in charge or the emir of Jamaah Islamiyah is Parawijayanto and the training coordinator is Joko Priyono alias Karso.

To prevent the spread of radicalism ideology and ideology among young people so that they are not easily recruited, he emphasized the importance of involving stakeholders who are in direct contact with the world of education, social, religious, communication and security in their respective environments.

Densus 88, he said, also continues to monitor terror networks in Indonesia on an ongoing basis, starting from gathering information materials, processing information to law enforcement.

Previously, the National Police's Anti-Terror Special Detachment (Densus) 88 arrested 23 suspected terrorists from the Jamaah Islamiyah group in eight locations in Sumatra, namely South Lampung, Central Lampung, Bandar Lampung, Pringsewu, Metro, Jambi, Riau and Palembang.

Two of the 23 people arrested were JI's Askari Commander, namely Taufik Bulaga alias Upik Lawanga and Zulkarnain alias Arif Sunarso.

In addition, Densus 88 also revealed that there was a bunker at Upik Lawanga's house in Lampung to hide and store his homemade weapons.
