JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) sealed the office of Deputy Chairperson of the East Java DPRD (East Java) Sahat Tua Simanjuntak during a hand arrest operation (OTT) in Surabaya, East Java, Wednesday, December 14 evening.

"Yes, the information is correct (gel it) because I am out of town," said Secretary of the East Java DPRD, Andik Fadjar Tjahjono in Surabaya, Thursday, December 15.

The KPK also sealed the room for the Head of the Risalah Division of the East Java DPRD Secretariat Afif. However, Andik has not been able to confirm whether Afif was also arrested or not.

Not only that, Andik also received information that Sahat had been brought by the KPK investigating team. However, he could not detail because the incoming information was limited.

"The information is that (Hahat was brought by the KPK), because they also don't know for themselves, yesterday's information (OTT)," said Andik.

Meanwhile, KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri confirmed that the chairman of the East Java DPRD, Sahat Tua Simanjuntak (STS), was arrested by the KPK OTT in Surabaya on Wednesday night, December 14.

"In the active arrest of the hand, there were Deputy Chairperson of the East Java DPRD STS and several other parties," Firli told reporters, Thursday, December 15.

Firli said that the KPK OTT against Sahat Tua Simanjuntak and several other parties was carried out at 20.24 WIB.

Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri said the KPK OTT was related to the alleged bribery in managing the allocation of grant funds.

"The KPK's arrest action in Surabaya is related to allegations of corruption in the handling of bribery in the allocation of grant funds sourced from the East Java Regional Budget," Ali Fikri said in his statement, Thursday, December 15.

Ali said the KPK team had so far arrested four people in the OTT in the city of Surabaya on Wednesday, December 14, one of whom was Sahat Tua Simanjuntak.

"So far, four people have been arrested. That's right, one of them is the leader of the East Java DPRD," said Ali.
