Fire In Pasar Minggu That Killed Husband And Wife Allegedly Because The Gas Tube Leaked

JAKARTA - A fire on Jalan Raya Bambu 1, Pasar Minggu Urban Village, South Jakarta City, which killed two people, was allegedly caused by a leaky gas tube hose.

The victim died was a husband and wife couple. The bodies of both were found in the bathroom. It is suspected that the victim died from running out of oxygen while escaping.

A total of nine fire engines with 30 personnel were deployed to the location to extinguish the fire at the scene on Jalan Raya Bambu 1 RT 09 / RW 06 Kelurahan Pasar Minggu, Pasar Minggu District.

It took approximately 30 minutes for officers to localize the fire and put it out. The fire was successfully extinguished at 12.00 WIB.

According to the picket officer of the South Jakarta City Fire and Rescue Service (Damkar), H Usman, the victims were named Duta Mahatma (37) and Siti Balkis (38). "The two victims were found dead in the bathroom," Usman said as quoted by Antara, Friday, December 18.

Based on information from residents, the incident occurred at 11.10 WIB. A resident named Joko heard an explosion and a voice asking for help on the second floor.

Joko saw the fire was getting bigger and tried to extinguish it using a light fire extinguisher (apar) but the door was still locked, then tried to break it down with the help of other residents.

The fire continued to burn, until the RT head contacted the Pasar Minggu Sector fire brigade for help.

"The alleged cause of the fire was a gas leak," said Usman.

The area burned 3x6 meters. The victim was an occupant in a house owned by Ira. Losses due to fire were estimated at IDR 50 million.

The two bodies were evacuated and taken to Fatmawati Hospital for review and then buried by the family.
