KAI Still Waiting For Instruction From The Central Government To Ask For Rapid Antigen Requirements In And Out Jakarta

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) has not yet enforced travel requirements in the form of rapid antigen test results for long-distance train passengers leaving and entering Jakarta.

Regarding the Long Distance Train journey from the Daop 1 Jakarta area, KAI still refers to SE 14 of the Ministry of Transportation on June 8, 2020 and SE Number 9 of the COVID-19 Task Force on June 26, 2020.

"Regarding the Antigen Swab Policy, KAI is still waiting for a further decision from the government," said Eva Chairunisa, Head of Public Relations of PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, in her statement, Friday, December 18.

Currently, people who will use long-distance trains are required to show a COVID-19 free letter from the results of the PCR swab test or antibody rapid test that is still valid for 14 days.

Meanwhile, for areas that do not have a COVID-19 examination facility at a local hospital or puskesmas, the requirement is to show a symptom-free certificate such as influenza.

Before carrying out a long-distance train journey, KAI also ensures that every passenger is in good health by measuring his body temperature with the condition that it is not more than 37.3 degrees Celsius.

"If a passenger is found to have a body temperature above the normal temperature, they are not allowed to continue the journey and the ticket fee will be refunded 100 percent," he said.

For information, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government requires all people who leave and enter Jakarta to carry out a rapid antigen test for COVID-19 during the Christmas and New Year 2021 holidays. Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo said this requirement applies to travelers using public transportation.

"For those who are going to buy tickets, prospective passengers are required to carry out a rapid antigen test. This applies to both air transport, sea transportation, railways and bus terminals," said Syafrin.

Syafrin said that the antigen rapid test requirements apply in air, sea, and bus terminals for 3 weeks, from 18 December 2020 to 8 January 2021. Meanwhile, railways are valid from 18 December 2020 to 4 January 2021.

"We prioritize this policy for inter-city movement between provinces, passengers are required to include the results of a rapid antigen test," he said.
