Indonesian Citizen In Shanghai Died, KJRI Awaits Police Report

JAKARTA - An Indonesian citizen died in Shanghai, China, but the Indonesian Consulate General is still waiting for an official report from the local police regarding the cause of the death.

"We just received information about the death of an Indonesian citizen on behalf of Mulyono, aged 39, on December 16, 2020," said Muhammad Arifin from the Indonesian Consulate General in Shanghai when confirmed by ANTARA Beijing, reported by Antara, Friday, December 18 morning.

Temporary information obtained by the Indonesian Consulate General, a man from Majalengka, West Java, died in a hospital in Shanghai due to illness.

"It is known that the person concerned appeared to be severely stressed, did not want to eat, and excessive smoking which caused him to have a severe cough," said Arifin.

After being taken to the hospital, the soul concerned could not be helped.

"Until now, the police have not provided the data that the Consulate General requested on the grounds that they are still coordinating with the hospital medical team," he said.

Mulyono's body is temporarily stored in a hospital in Shanghai.

The Consulate General has communicated with the family of the deceased, the village head, and legal aid agencies appointed by the family.

At the request of the family, explained Arifin, the Indonesian Consulate had made various initial preparations before the process of repatriating the body from Shanghai to Indonesia.
