Sandiaga Said About The Alcohol Article In The New Criminal Code: We Will Coordinate With The National Police Chief

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno said he would coordinate with the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo regarding the substance and implementation of Article 424 concerning liquor (alcohol) in the new Criminal Code.

"Because this is also included in the restaurant and cafe hotel sector, and this will also have an impact on tourist destinations and we will ensure that article 424, we will coordinate with the legal apparatus, especially the National Police Chief," Sandiaga said as quoted by Antara, Saturday, December 10.

He conveyed this regarding the presentation of Hotman Paris advocates who said Article 424 of the Criminal Code was an article that should be watched out for by tourism actors (hotels/restaurants), including the general public.

"Another article that is not a complaint offense, this is what is not considered, article 424 is about alcohol, this is what tourists can become targets later," said Hotman Paris.

On the other hand, Sandi also emphasized that his party would coordinate with the legal apparatus, so that the concerns expressed by tourists can be anticipated and their tourism activities here will not be disrupted. "We are a nation that respects guests, like kings, our red carpet has been raised for tourists," he said. His party also ensures to disseminate information to travel agents, operator tours, their tours are guaranteed to be safe, comfortable, and his party really welcomes them well.

Sandiaga admitted that he had met with the American Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia on Tuesday, December 6, and for two consecutive days held meetings with investors to discuss a number of articles in the RKUHP.

During the meeting, Sandiaga emphasized the opening of investment opportunities in the tourism sector in the country, although they are worried about several articles of the RKUHP, one of which is the prohibition of living together without marriage ties.
