JAKARTA - Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said Yogyakarta International Airport or Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA) in Kulonprogo will be fully operational on March 29, 2020. For this reason, the Minister of Transportation asked all relevant parties to optimize intermodal integration to facilitate public accessibility to and from the airport.

"On March 29, YIA will be fully operational, at that time the movement of passengers will be massive. To anticipate this, I have asked the Director General of Land Transportation and PT. "Damri is to optimize the headway (waiting time) of Damri Bus per 30 minutes," said the Minister of Transportation in a statement received by VOI, Friday, January 31.

The Minister of Transportation revealed that the Ministry of Transportation had provided subsidized tariffs for Damri buses to and from YIA at two Damri shelters, namely from the Sleman City Hall and Hartono Mall shelters at a rate of Rp. 25 thousand. This is done so that people get used to and are increasingly interested in using mass bus transportation.

Meanwhile, on the YIA-Shelter Malioboro route, a commercial tariff of IDR 70 thousand applies. "We provide subsidies at two shelters with good headways, so we hope that people will get used to using Damri Bus transportation to and from here (YIA)," said the Minister of Transportation.

Furthermore, the Minister of Transportation appreciated Perum Damri's steps in actively using social media to disseminate information to the public. "Earlier I talked with several prospective passengers who were going to YIA, they knew Damri bus routes and fares from social media. I appreciate this communication step and we hope that the public will not be confused anymore when YIA is fully operational later," the Minister of Transportation concluded.

Based on information from PT AP I, YIA has been supported by public transportation modes such as Damri, SatelQu, airport taxis, online taxis, and trains from the nearest station, Wojo Station which can be reached 10 minutes from the airport. This choice of transportation mode will make it easier for passengers to use airport services.
