JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government requires all people who leave and enter Jakarta to carry out a rapid antigen test for COVID-19 during the Christmas and New Year 2021 holidays.

Head of the Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, said that this requirement applies to travelers using public transportation.

"For those who are going to buy tickets, prospective passengers are required to carry out a rapid antigen test. This applies to both air transport, sea transportation, railways and bus terminals," Syafrin told reporters, Thursday, December 17.

Syafrin said that the antigen rapid test requirements apply in air, sea, and bus terminals for 3 weeks, from 18 December 2020 to 8 January 2021. Meanwhile, railways are valid from 18 December 2020 to 4 January 2021.

"We prioritize this policy for inter-city movement between provinces, passengers are required to include the results of a rapid antigen test," he said.

Previously, the Governor of DKI Jakarta Anies Baswedan issued Governor Instruction Number 64 of 2020 concerning the Implementation of Control of Community Activities in Prevention of COVID-19 in the Holidays of Christmas 2020 and New Year 2021.

One of Anies' instructions was to assign the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency to check the statement on the results of the rapid antigen test on the behavior of travel on public transportation modes.

Quoted from the Halodoc website, the antigen rapid test and antigen swab are the same type of test. The COVID-19 antigen rapid test is carried out to detect the presence of viral antigens in the body. This has been established by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The antigen rapid test can detect the corona virus and provide a fast diagnosis, which is only in 15 minutes. The results of this test are more accurate than the antibody rapid test. The price of rapid antigen tests in Indonesia is quite diverse, ranging from IDR 349,000 to IDR 665,000.
