France Begins To Vaccinate Its People At The End Of December, How To Prepare?

JAKARTA - The French government plans to vaccinate its people for COVID-19 at the end of December. The plan was revealed by the Prime Minister (PM) of France, Jean Castex. How are the preparations?

As reported by Channel News Asia, Castex said that vaccinations could only be carried out if the European Union's health authorities had issued a distribution permit for the vaccine developed by Pfizer-BioNTech. The French government believes the permit will be issued soon.

According to Castex, the presence of the COVID-19 vaccine provides new hope against the virus from Wuhan. To that end, Castex hopes that the vaccine campaign in France will continue to be increased until next January.

Those who are planned to receive the vaccine for the first time are the elderly and other groups who are more vulnerable to COVID-19. In detail, the owner of the policy will focus on giving the COVID-19 vaccine to one million people in nursing homes during January and February. Only then, another 14-15 million people wider between March and June.

The presence of a vaccine, said Castex, could be as bright as hope to rise from the pandemic. Castex's confidence was also supported because France had ordered 200 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Meanwhile, a senior European Commission official revealed that the European Union will grant Pfizer-BioNTech permission to use as early as 23 December.

So far France has confirmed 2,390,419 cases of COVID-19 transmission. Among them, there were 58,712 cases died.
