Police Destroy Illegal Gold Mining Gubuk And Equipment In The Abdya Mountains

The Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the Southwest Aceh Regency Police (Abdya) destroyed a number of equipment in several illegal gold mining sites in the mountainous area of Babahrot District, a local district in a control operation.

"We destroyed the huts and mining equipment that had been left by the owner for a long time by burning them," said Abdya Police Chief, AKBP Agus Sulistianto through the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit, Iptu Wahyudi in Blangpidie, Antara, Sunday, January 19.

He explained that this firm action was proof of the seriousness of the police in taking action against illegal gold miners in Abdya Regency.

"Previously, in early December 2024, we had issued an appeal so that illegal activities could be stopped," he said.

The control operation carried out by the Abdya Police also involved personnel from Kodim 0110/Abdya. This joint team managed to curb two illegal mines in the mountains of Babahrot District.

"At the location of the illegal gold mine, Alue Rimueng, Alue Jereukak Village, we found the huts and Asbuk that had long been abandoned. Meanwhile, in Alue Buya, Pante Rakyat Village, we found filters or Asbuk. All of this equipment has been abandoned and is no longer operational," he said.

Wahyudi added that in the future his party will continue to monitor and supervise to prevent illegal mining activities, because these activities have a negative impact on the environment and society.

"Alhamdulillah, with this activity, we have succeeded in reducing the negative impact on the ecosystem and preventing state losses," he said.

Of course, he said, this action is in accordance with Law Number 4 of 2009 concerning Mineral and Coal as well as Law Number 32 of 2009 concerning Environmental Protection and Management.

Wahyudi appealed to the public to report illegal gold mining activities to law enforcement officials so that enforcement can be carried out quickly and appropriately. Community participation is very important in protecting the environment and natural resources.
