JAKARTA - Minister of Law and Human Rights (Menkumham) Yasonna Laoly said the Criminal Code (KUHP) which had been passed by the DPR RI. Furthermore, it remains only to wait for President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to sign it. This law was passed by the DPR today, Tuesday, December 6. "Later the DPR will send it to the president. We are waiting for the law to be signed by the President," Yasonna told reporters at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Tuesday, December 6. After signing it, Yasonna ensured that the government had three years to carry out socialization. A team consisting of ministries and experts will be formed and sent to the regions. "This (team, red) will be sent to areas including here to law enforcement, both police, court prosecutors also to campuses and also many other communities who need to understand," he said. Yasonna said the Criminal Code was very necessary because Indonesia had been using the legal basis made by the Dutch for a long time. He also ensured that the law followed the times. "That there is a difference of opinion, go ahead. We are a very heterogeneous society. There are many views but we have decided that we must certify it," he said. Yasonna said, it is natural that there is a lot of debate about the Criminal Code. However, he ensured that the input provided by the public had actually been sought to accommodate. People who are not satisfied with the law are also welcome to file a lawsuit. "Go ahead with a judicial review," he said. "I invite my friends to take constitutional steps. We learn to do things constitutionally, legally," continued Yasonna. As previously reported, the DPR approved the RKUHP to be ratified into law. This approval was given through the Plenary Meeting which was held today, Tuesday, December 6. "Can the Criminal Code Bill be approved to be passed into law," said Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad at the DPR Plenary Meeting at the Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Tuesday, December 6. Dasco said all factions had expressed their opinion at level I regarding the RKUHP to be brought to the DPR Plenary Meeting for decision making.
