JATIM - Residents of Kajar Kuning Hamlet, Sumberwuluh Village, Candipuro District, Lumajang hope to receive permanent housing (huntap) from the government soon following the eruption of Mount Semeru in the early hours of Sunday, December 4.

Met at the evacuation post in Penanggal Village, a number of residents claimed to have been recorded by the village.

"Last night it was recorded for the huntap. Hopefully we will get it soon so we can move," said Musdalifah, one of the refugees, Tuesday, December 6, as reported by Antara.

Musdalifah revealed, since the eruption of Mount Semeru last year, the government has offered hamlet residents to move to permanent residences.

Last year, he and other residents were still thinking about moving to permanent residences. Residents think their homes are still safe from wedus or hot clouds avalanche (APG) from the eruption of Mount Semeru.

"But now it's a hassle because it's bigger. Approaching the house. The line doesn't follow the first path," he said.

"We are still brave, but now we are just looking at our mistakes," added Musdalifah.

Mount Semeru emitted hot clouds of avalanches with a range of seven kilometers on Sunday, December 4, at 02.46 WIB. At 12.00 WIB, PVMBG took mitigation steps by increasing the status of Mount Semeru from Level III or Alert to Level II or Alert.

The decision was taken so that residents living in disaster-prone areas of Mount Semeru vacate their areas and evacuate themselves to evacuations that have been provided in areas that are safe from the reach of the eruption. Thus, it does not cause casualties if at any time the volcano erupts.
