JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) noted that as many as four RTs in North Jakarta were flooded by coastal floods or tidal waves today, Tuesday, December 6.

"BPBD noted that until 11.00 WIB, there were 4 RTs that experienced tidal flooding," said Head of BPBD DKI Jakarta Isnawa Adji to reporters, Tuesday, December 6.

The tidal flood is located at 2 RTs in Pluit Village with a water level of 20 centimeters, and 2 RTs in Marunda Village with a water level of 35 centimeters.

"BPBD DKI Jakarta mobilizes personnel to monitor inundation conditions in each region and coordinate elements of the Natural Resources Service, Highways Service, Gulkarmat Service to carry out inundation suction and ensure water lines function properly together with the local lurah and sub-district heads. The inundation is targeted to recede in a short time," explained Isnawa.

Previously, Isnawa asked people living in the coastal area of Jakarta to be aware of the potential for tidal flooding.

The tidal flood is predicted to hit from 6 to 28 December. This information is based on the latest data obtained by the Tanjung Priok Maritime Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG).

"Be aware of the coastal flooding (rob) of DKI Jakarta Province from December 6 to December 13 at 08.00 to 12.00 WIB," said Isnawa.

The coastal areas of DKI Jakarta such as Kamal Muara, Kapuk Muara, Penjaringan, Pluit, Ancol, Kamal, Marunda, Cilincing, and Kalibaru are advised to be aware of the increase in the maximum sea level which has the potential to cause coastal flooding.

BPBD DKI revealed that the potential for tidal flooding in the six urban villages located in North Jakarta occurred in line with sea level rise.

"The existence of tidal activity together with the new moon phase affects coastal dynamics that have the potential to cause coastal flooding or tidal flooding," said Isnawa.
