Bintan Police, Riau Islands Police (Kepri) arrested a man with the initials FE (28) who is suspected of committing a criminal act of prostitution in a network (online) in the 2022 community disease operation (Pekat). "The perpetrator was arrested at an inn in the East Bintan area, Friday, December 2, 2022," said Bintan Police Chief AKBP Tidar Wulung Dahono at his office, Antara, Monday, December 5. The Bintan Police Chief stated that the suspect FE was suspected of having committed a criminal act of trafficking in person by offering women to male mashers online at a predetermined rate. The police also secured evidence in the form of cash denominations of Rp. 50,000 totaling Rp. 800 thousand, inn proof notes with paid off stamps, and several mobile phones used by suspect FE to carry out online prostitution activities. The actions of the suspect FE violated Article 2 paragraph (1) of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 21 of 2017 concerning the Eradication of the Crime of Trafficking in Persons and or Article 83 in conjunction with Article 76F and or Article 88 in conjunction with Article 76I of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Amendments to Law Number 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection with a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.
