Marullah Was Appointed As Deputy Governor So That The DKI Regional Government Would Be Better Off, This Is His New Role

JAKARTA - Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono shifted Marullah's position from the Regional Secretary (Sekda) to Deputy Governor for Culture and Tourism. He said this step was so that the DKI Jakarta local government, including himself as the Governor, would be more agile.

"Mr. Marullah can help me more broadly and more agile," said Heru when met at Lapangan Banteng, Central Jakarta, as quoted from Antara, Saturday, December 3.

Heru also explained Marullah Matali's role. He said that Marullah's role would be wider and external. So far, as the Regional Secretary, Marullah is more focused on completing internal tasks, namely the development of the DKI Jakarta State Civil Apparatus (ASN).

"Of course, there will be more tasks from us, we can communicate with the central government and can represent me in outside tasks, there are many related to other institutions that I have not had enough time," said Heru.

Meanwhile, the position of regional secretary is currently filled by Uus Kuswanto who was appointed as Acting Regional Secretary of DKI. The plan is that the definitive DKI Regional Secretary is expected to be elected at the end of December 2022 or early January 2023.

"Implement the definitive regional secretary, if I ask the BKD (Regional Civil Service Agency) it may be 1.5 months from now on, late December or January (2023)," added Heru.

Marullah was appointed Deputy Governor of DKI based on Presidential Decree Number 139/TPA of 2022 concerning Dismissal and Appointment of and Position of High Leadership Positions of the DKI Provincial Government.

The inauguration of Marullah and Uus also referred to the Letter of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 100.2.1.6/8607/SJ concerning the Approval of the Appointment of the Acting Secretary of the DKI and the Decree of the Governor of the Special Capital Region of Jakarta Number 574 of 2022 concerning Appointment as Acting Regional Secretary of DKI.

Based on article 14 of Law Number 29 of 2007 concerning the Provincial Government of the Special Capital Region of Jakarta as the capital city of the Republic of Indonesia, the Governor of DKI is assisted by at most four deputies according to regional financial needs and capabilities.

The deputy position was appointed from a Civil Servant (PNS) who met the requirements and was responsible to the governor. The deputy was appointed and dismissed by the President at the governor's suggestion.

With Marullah's inauguration, there was only one of the four deputy governors of DKI.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government website stated that three other deputy positions in the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, namely the Deputy for Spatial and Environmental Affairs, the Deputy for Population and Settlement Control, and the Deputy for Industry, Trade and Transportation.
