The West Java Regional Police stated that they were hunting for people claiming to be fair queens and imams of mahodi in Karawang Regency, West Java. The perpetrator's confession was spread through video recordings on social media.
The Head of Public Relations of the West Java Police, Kombes Ibrahim Tompo, said a number of police had visited the location where the person in the video was suspected to be. However, he said, the person in the video was not at the location.
"We are still investigating the addresses because the addresses are not true," Ibrahim said when contacted from Bandung, quoted from Antara, Thursday, December 1.
The actions of the person were recorded in two videos that lasted 54 and 60 seconds. The video footage shows three people, two middle-aged women and a man.
In the conversation on the video, they claimed to be the fair queen and imam Mahadi who brought in the disaster.
According to Ibrahim, the video that was spread was suspected to contain provocation. In addition, he said, the address of Mulyasejati Village, Ciampel District, Karawang Regency, included in the video is a fake address.
Thus, he said, the existing people and the video recorder had not been detected. Even so, the police continue to investigate to find these people.
"It's still being investigated, it hasn't been detected," said Ibrahim.
Meanwhile, the Secretary of the West Java Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), Rafani Achyar, asked the public not to be influenced by the video of people claiming to be the imam of Mahri and the fair queen.
Rafani assessed that the people of West Java are already smart in responding to content on social media that is not necessarily clear.
"I believe the people of West Java are smart and rational, so they will not be easily influenced," said Rafani.
