SOUTH KALIMANTAN - A total of 1,577 search and rescue tools (SAR) have been prepared to deal with potential natural disasters due to extreme weather in South Kalimantan (South Kalimantan) which is expected to emerge by the end of 2022.

"In addition to the readiness of SAR equipment, in handling floods and landslides we also have prepared 3,200 joint personnel," said South Kalimantan Police Chief Inspector General Andi Rian R Djajadi in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan, Tuesday, November 29, quoted from Antara.

For the South Kalimantan Regional Police itself, he said, the SAR team was alerted at the Sabhara Directorate, Polairud Directorate and Brimob Unit which could be deployed to the disaster site at any time to strengthen the deployment of troops at the local police, whose area was affected.

Andi Rian admitted that natural disaster management requires the cohesiveness and cooperation of all elements involved, including the readiness of supporting tools.

This concerns the safety of victims during the evacuation process and minimizes the loss of more lives.

"That's why this apple is a form of readiness by the South Kalimantan Police to synergize with all agencies, the TNI and local governments in disaster management," he said.

Moreover, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that from November 2022 to February 2023 in various regions in Indonesia there will be extreme weather such as heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds.

This condition has the potential to cause hydrometeorological disasters such as floods, landslides, tornadoes, high waves that can disrupt activities and even the safety of human souls.

The Regional Police Chief said that the intensity of rainfall had also increased in recent weeks in the South Kalimantan region.

Even strong winds and high waves have claimed one victim in the waters of Tanah Laut Regency.

"This is of course our concern to anticipate with preparedness, both personnel and supporting equipment," he concluded.
