Western World Sanctions Make Russia's Local Beer Industry No LONGer A 'Guest' At Home

JAKARTA - Russia's domestic beer industry may be the party that likes the emergence of western countries' sanctions to its country. Now the local beer industry is hosting it in its own country.

So far, Russia is synonymous with vodka. But in terms of the volume consumed, beer is as popular as it is, as reported by Channel News Asia, Tuesday 29 November.

The absence of foreign beer brands has brought more businesses to local brewers. Now they are racing to develop their expertise in repairing equipment that is widely purchased from abroad to ensure their operations are not disrupted.

The beer industry is indeed one of the industries that finds opportunities in chaos. The well-known brands - who have dominated the market - are choosing or forced out by sanctions.

Invasion of Russia into Ukraine has resulted in the biggest economic shock in 30 years, creating major challenges for governments and businesses.

Russian brewery, including Moscow-based Dreamteam Brew, fills the void and satisfies the request.

Head of sales of Dreamteam Brew, said: "With the exit of big beer players, distributors and imported beer, we have the opportunity to expand to many restaurant groups, first in Moscow and St Petersburg, and then throughout Russia".

He said the client previously, who did not want to work with the brewery because the price was relatively higher, started contacting again in March to buy their beer, as there was no way to get imported.

Now, Dreamteam Brew has turned around to experiment with more Russian ingredients, with wheat and minks of key ingredients in the process of brewing beer available in the country.
