JAKARTA - The Turkish Army received new combat vehicles earlier this week under the Mine-Land Vehicle Procurement Project 6x6 from the Presidency of the Defense Industry (SSB) and Turkey's leading land vehicle manufacturer FNSS, the PARS IV 6x6 Special Operations Vehicle.
During a handover ceremony last Tuesday, SSB Head Ismail Demir stated that the defense industry has extensive inventory in the land vehicle sector to meet the needs of the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK), security forces and friendly countries and allies abroad.
"Today, we are holding a delivery ceremony for our 6x6 PARS Anti-Ranjau Vehicle, which has been carefully prepared from start to finish," he said.
He noted that PARS vehicles provide security forces with the ability to move under high armored protection, to meet the communication needs of high-capacity images, sounds and data from these elements in operational environments.
"It was designed as anit-ranjau, improvised explosive device (IED) and ballistic protective vehicle. We are proud to have a defense industry designing, developing, and producing such a vehicle, the first in the world with other technical features," said Demir.
Meanwhile, Nail Kurt, general manager of FNSS, on the same occasion said the vehicle had completed a journey of 25,000 kilometers (15,534.27 miles) in difficult conditions.
"By sending vehicles to TSK, new generation of combat vehicles in class 6x6 will be included in our army inventory for the first time and will be an important force multiplier," he explained.
The PARS IV 6x6 Anti-Ranjau Vehicle is designed as a vehicle outside the existing vehicle, with specialized operational capabilities and mission equipment with new technology.
The vehicle, which has a modular armored structure, complements passive protective elements, thanks to an integrated IED kit and an easily dismantled and installed RPG network.
Active mixing/blinding systems with acoustic warnings, which are sensitive to supersonic and integrated sounds with cannon towers, 360-degree multiple user fog mortars and CBRN systems (chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear resistance), are also included in vehicles as active protective elements.
Three different types of weapons can be used in turets, weapons that users can easily change if needed.
