The South Sulawesi Provincial Government Provides Assistance To Ships, Boats And Fish Apartments For Fishermen In Selayar

MAKASSAR - The South Sulawesi Provincial Government provided assistance to fishing vessels with a total value of IDR 3.5 billion to fishing groups in the Selayar Islands Regency. According to a press statement from the provincial government received by Antara in Makassar City, Saturday, November 26, the assistance provided to fishing groups in the Selayar Islands consisted of one Purse Seine 25GT ship, three 15 GT fishing vessels, and two boats. "We handed over a number of fishing boats to fishing groups in Selayar Regency. We hope to help and support fishermen to go to sea," said South Sulawesi Governor Andi Sudirman Sulaiman. The assistance is intended to support increased productivity and welfare of fishermen in the Selayar Islands. In addition to providing ship assistance, the South Sulawesi Provincial Government provides assistance in the form of mooring boats as well as facilities and infrastructure for salt pond businesses.

"Kanu also provides artificial reef (artificial income) assistance and fish apartments," said the Governor. The South Sulawesi Provincial Government also assisted in reforestation efforts in the Selayar Islands mangrove area by planting 95,840 mangrove tree seedlings.
