students of Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) 2 Malang managed to create a robot for sweepers/cleaners of street organic waste that was displayed in the 2022 Madrasah Robotic Competition at Yogyakarta State University.
The robot, created by Kaevlin Fadia Taqia (15) and Givan Chiragia Rahman (15), is called the Folium Bot Autonomus Road Rubbish Sweeper Machine Based on Deep Learning.
"We developed it for two months, before appearing here," Kaevlin said in a statement received in Jakarta, Antara, Thursday, November 24.
Kaevlin explained that the garbage-taking robot in principle works like a garbage truck that can collect organic waste that is scattered on the streets by vacuuming it. The robot can recognize the types of waste and be able to analyze the challenges it faces.
One of the main components of this robot is Arduino Mega, a circuit that gives orders on the bike to carry out mobility. In addition, this robot is given a driving force, the omniwheel of PG28. With a many-wheeled model, this robot can move in any direction effectively without having to rotate.
To be able to recognize objects, Folium Bot engages them with an untrasonic camera and sensor. With these two senses, it can detect objects and decide whether they are organic or not.
With this tool, he can also recognize objects that are not targeted, and will stop or avoid if the rate is hindered.
All data inputs that are processed in memory, which are still played by laptops. Laptops are used to process data, including introducing objects to robots so that they know which is trash and which is not.
To make his work effective, this robot carries a vacuum cleaner that has sufficient memory power. If placed on the streets, the Folium Bot will start walking looking for dry leaves, branches, and other objects that it can clean, then suck them with vacuum.
Folium Bot will continue to repeat it until the plastic bag's capacity is full. If the hull is full he will stop. The role of humans only removes the trash hull and replaces it with a new one.
"This robot is powered by 12 Volt accumulator batteries and Li-Pro batteries equipped with a travo step down as a reduction in voltage," he said.
The robot made by a 15-year-old student is effective in supporting human civilization, especially Indonesia, which is facing serious waste problems.
"We as the younger generation feel responsible for environmental problems. So, we took the initiative to make innovations, namely Folium Bot," said Ghivan Chiragia.
Previously, the Ministry of Religion held the 2022 Madrasah Robotics competition at the Yogyakarta State University Sports Building. At this time's Madrasah Robotic Competition, as many as 180 robots competed in an event that took the theme The Next Generation of Robots: Making Better Life.
