Assistance For Earthquake Victims Of Cianjur Has NOTrata, Jokowi Disbursed The Cause

CIANJUR - President Joko Widodo admitted that the assistance distributed to victims affected by the Cianjur earthquake was not evenly distributed. According to him, the cause is that many evacuation points spread to various regions. This was conveyed by Jokowi after reviewing the earthquake victims who were being treated at the Regional General Hospital (RSUD) Sayang, Cianjur Regency, West Java. "It is difficult to distribute logistics and then also evaluate because there are so many points," said Jokowi on Thursday, November 24. The former governor of DKI Jakarta admitted that he had ordered his staff to deploy helicopters to bring aid which would be distributed to locations affected by the earthquake, especially to locations with road terrains that are quite difficult if taken by land route. "Use helicopters if needed, because there are too many points, the media also go up and down the mountain which is not easy, and the evacuation of 39 that have not been found," said Jokowi. In addition, Jokowi also ordered the victims' evacuation team to carry out rescues as soon as possible. "I also ordered to start immediately before the rain came, hopefully, everything can be handled immediately and then we can concentrate on rehabilitation again because it seems that the earthquake has subsided a bit," he said. Previously, Jokowi also visited the locations affected by the earthquake in Cugenang District. Jokowi found that there were still earthquake victims who lacked tents and met clean water needs. Jokowi came back down directly after two days ago checking the handling of the earthquake emergency response process in Cianjur. This time, his visit is to ensure that logistics in the field are well distributed. "The lack of tents, there were also water complaints because there are indeed many points," he said. Jokowi also checked the delivery of food, medicines and all kinds of logistics. So far, the obstacles faced regarding logistics delivery for victims of the Cianjur earthquake are in the weather and the terrain that is traversed in distribution. "Because the conditions are steep, it is still raining, and there are aftershocks, the soil is unstable, so caution is needed," said Jokowi.
