Fun Shopping In Markets, 7 Foreigners From Timor Leste Accused Of Immigration Atambua

The Atambua Immigration Office secured seven foreign nationals (WNA) from Timor Leste in traditional markets in Belu Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

"The seven foreigners entered Indonesian territory in Belu Regency without having travel documents or illegal entry," said Head of the Class IIA Immigration Office Immigration Checkpoint (TPI) Atambua, KA Halim, Thursday, November 24, quoted from Antara.

He said the foreigners consisted of four women each with the initials AA (27), SS (24), TS (35), MML (35) and 3 men HDS (51), AG (28), DA (13).

Halim explained that they were secured by Immigration on Wednesday, November 23. The security is in the context of an operation to minimize immigration violations.

The arrests of the seven Timor Leste foreigners were based on reports from the public who entered the Immigration Intelligence and Enforcement Team (Inteljakim) of the Atambua Immigration Office regarding the frequent border areas of the RI-Timor Leste state being illegally crossed.

During the arrest process, Halim said the team received information that foreigners from Timor Leste had entered to shop at Haekesak Market.

Receiving information from the informant, the team then secured four people who were about to leave the market and after being interrogated it was found that they were from Timor Leste who entered through the Dilumil area.

"They entered Indonesia to shop for basic necessities at Haekesak Market," he said.

Halim explained that from the results of the interrogation, information was obtained that there were still foreigners who entered together with them through illegal channels.

The team then immediately moved to the Old Market area which is a terminal of arrival and departure from Atambua City towards Haekesak and its surroundings to conduct a search.

As a result, he said, the team secured three more people and was taken to the Atambua Immigration Office, bringing a total of seven people who were secured in immigration intelligence operations.

"Currently they are being examined by the Inteldakim Team and coordinated with the Timor Leste Consulate in Atambua to provide travel documents for further deportation to their country of origin," he said.
