JAKARTA - North Korea on Thursday condemned Seoul's insistence on imposing additional sanctions on Pyongyang after its repeated missile launch, saying the move would add to North Korea's "hostile and anger", state media reported.

Kim Yo-jong, the younger sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, made the statement in a statement published by KCNA, calling South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol "and other34ths" the United States "loyal loyal".

South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Tuesday it was reviewing independent sanctions against Pyongyang.

It said sanctions on the cyber sector were among those considered, if North Korea pushed for a nuclear test.

North Korea has launched an unprecedented number of ballistic missiles this year. Meanwhile, for months Washington said North Korea could conduct a nuclear bomb test, the first since 2017, at any time.

"If they think they can escape the current dangerous situation through'sanctions', they must be very stupid because they don't know how to live peacefully and comfortably," Kim Yo-jong said in the statement.

The United States has urged the United Nations Security Council to hold North Korea accountable for its missile tests in one vote, accusing China and Russia of "giving courage" Pyongyang by blocking Security Council actions.

China and Russia supported tougher sanctions after Pyongyang's last nuclear test in 2017, but in May both veto US-led push for more UN penalties over the updated missile launches.

"We warn impudent and stupid people once again that sanctions and desperate pressure from the US and South Korean thugs against the DPRK will add to the fuel of hostilities and anger," said Kim Yo-jong, using North Korea's official name.
